Endowment Fund
St. Saviour’s School Ikoyi (“SSSI” or the “School”) is the oldest independent British curriculum primary School in Nigeria. It was established in 1951 by the leading business members of the then Nigerian Expatriate community in Lagos. In 2011, the Board of Trustees established the Endowment Fund for the School to sustain the vision of promoting excellent primary education in Nigeria and further safeguard the future of the School. The Endowment Fund is a fund set up to cater for the capital projects and non-recurring expenses in the School; this is achieved through annual fund raising events.
Where we are coming from:
On 18th November 2017, the Endowment Fund successfully hosted the first ever inter-school 5k run tagged, Lagos Kids Mini-Marathon (the “Kids Mini Marathon”) themed “Active Kids Rock”. The Kids Mini Marathon is a family event which inspires kids to become more physically active from an early age, and run for a charity. Parents also run, walk or trot with their kids. Although kids focused, the Kids Mini Marathon is a fun all-family event with exciting post Mini Marathon activities.
Subsequently, the endowment fund has hosted two other successful editions in 2018 & 2019, these editions were well attended by over 800kids representing 100 schools across Lagos and Ogun State. Over 500 parents also participated. Participants were grouped into three categories based on their age groups: 56% of the participants were between the ages of 4 to 8 years, 33% were between 9 to 12 years and 11% between 13 to 15 years. The Event went viral across all major social media platforms with a lot of celebrities in attendance and activiely broadcasting; it was also aired on Ebony Life TV in February 2018.
Past Sponsors included MTN, Access Bank, AXA Mansard, Lagos States Sports Commission, Multi Choice, Ebony Life, HIIT Squad, Eva Water, St Nicholas Hospital, Lagoon Hospital, Aqua Dana and many more. Part of the proceeds was donated to support Slum to School Charity, a volunteer driven social development organization whose vision is to transform the society by empowering disadvantaged children in Slums to realize their full potential through the provision of educational scholarships, health support and other psycho-social support.
Lagos Kids Mini Marathon 2023
The 2023 Lagos Kids Mini Marathon is planned to hold on 25th november, 2023 and expected to be even bigger leveraging on the success of previous editions.
- Venue: Banana Island, Lagos
- Time: 7am — 11am
- Distance: 1K (walk) - 1.5k; 3k and 5k (Run)
- Age segments: 4-5years; 6-8 years; 9-12 years; 13-15 years; and adults including parents and guardians.
- Schools expected to participate: 150 schools
- Registration fee: N10,000 (this covers the running kit)
- No of partcipants: 1500 kids; 900 parents and guardians
- All participants will be given medals: and the first 3 boys and girls will be awarded gold, silver and bronze trophies in each segment; and prizes from Sponsors.
